Blue Sky Meadow is located in the San Bernardino Mountains near Onyx Summit, ten miles from Big Bear City. Resting at an elevation of 8,000 feet, the site boasts comfortable weather in the spring and fall, refreshingly cool temperatures in summer, and frequent snowfall in the winter.
Blue Sky Meadow is highway-close but remote enough to offer relatively untouched natural habitats for outdoor experiences. It lies in a broad, bowl-shaped valley surrounded by Jeffrey pines, sagebrush, white fir, and Sierra juniper. The large meadow, an unusual habitat in dry Southern California, hosts a wide variety of species, including some rare plants. A natural seep feeds a small pond above the meadow.

Accommodations
Meals are served family style in the rustic dining hall. Sleeping accommodations are in comfortable student cabins, where visitors supply their own sleeping bag and pillow to use on top of good quality bunk mattresses. The cabins are heated, have vinyl or concrete floors, and have plenty of space to avoid crowding. A telephone intercom system links each cabin. Bathroom and shower facilities with plenty of hot water are located within a few steps of each older cabin. Two new, fully-accessible dorms, set to open by Summer 2008, will have bathrooms and showers inside. All the bunkhouses at Blue Sky Meadow provide a comfortable, camp-style experience.
Terrain
Although Blue Sky Meadow is at an elevation of 8,000 feet, the central campus is relatively flat. The site also includes trails suitable for hikers of varying abilities.
